So last week, the Lavish Loves Spa Team were lucky enough to visit K-Spa in West London. We booked for a Spa Day and sprinkling of pre-Christmas relaxation.
K-Spa is described as a ‘holistic haven’ and was named “Best UK Luxury Hotel Spa” at the World Spa Awards. Located conveniently in K-West hotel, west London, close to Westfield shopping centre and Shepherd’s Bush underground.
Coming from just a few miles away, we decided to drive which unexpectedly revealed our first treat of the day – Valet parking! On arrival, we simply handed the keys over and sashayed into the spa letting someone else deal with the stress of finding a parking space. Tick – no precious spa time lost!
K-Spa is based in K-West hotel. Located just a stones throw from the shops and has a modern city/New York vibe to it. On arrival, the warm welcome, relaxing music and evocative spa aromas combined to transform us immediately to a place of Zen.
K-West offers treatments based on Aromatherapy Associates and Germaine de Capuccini products. The spa menu offers an extensive choice of treatments for the face and body. We both opted for an Ultimate Aromatherapy Facial and a Dashing Diva shellac manicure. The receptionist helpfully confirmed our treatments and timings for the day and gave us robes and slippers to wear. Then, showed us to the changing rooms – stocked with deliciously aromatic Aromatherapy Associates products.
The Spa Area
Before our treatments we had time to explore the spa area. The central spa area offers a Scandinavian Sauna and Steam room, aroma scented Sanarium, Snow Paradise with ice room, and foot baths to cleanse and relax your feet. There is plenty of space to relax and chat in the chill area and so it’s ideal for a visit with a friend or two. There is a large hydrotherapy pool set under a ceiling adorned with twinkling lights. Sitting reclined on seats set just underwater the warm bubbling water gently massaged away our tension and stress.
Spa Treatment Time!
Soon it was time for our first treatment – the facial. Then, we robed-up and went to wait in one of the relaxation rooms where complementary tea, water and fruit were on offer. Our Therapist arrived and took us through to warm and luxurious treatment room. The Therapist was very thorough and took time to explain each step of the facial. It felt like very involved treatment, I lost count on the number of steps and different products that were applied to my skin. It was a very hands-on treatment with plenty of massage as I was relieved that I was not simply left with a mask on for ages wondering where the Therapist had gone. Looking at my skin afterwards I could see it looked luminous, supple and invigorated, and I floated out of the treatment room.
After our facials we were guided to the warm, dark and indulgently cosy Relax Zone. We were invited to rest and enjoy a little more time to unwind and bask in the ‘spa treatment afterglow’.
Next up – lunch. Possibly the only criticism of our Spa day was the choice of lunch options. I would have liked something light and cleansing to eat but could only see club sandwiches and toasties on the menu. My feedback to the spa would be to give each guest a lunch menu on arrival and offer him or her the ability to order lunch from the spa area.
Following lunch we went back to the spa area. It was good to see plenty of other guests enjoying the spa facilities, without it feeling too crowded and we never had to wait around. We wondered if there were an optimum order to experience each different spa experience. Part of me would have liked a guide to how to get the most from the spa facilities.
Then it was time to be Dashing Divas! Our manicurist was excellent; friendly and knowledgeable and we were very happy with the results. All too soon, it was time to get showered, changed and head back to reality. The changing rooms are generously equipped so you can emerge feeling and looking like a million dollars.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to K-Spa. It’s superbly designed, offers a wonderful range of treatments, has excellent spa facilities and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It’s a great place to come with a partner or a couple of friends. We thought we’d look into combining our next visit with morning shopping at Westfield and possibly with a stay overnight. Can’t wait!
